WILL YOU PERSONALLY RECEIVE A TAX BREAK FOR COLLECTING DONATIONS, WYN?

All donations will be transferred via direct bank transfer from Venmo at 18,761.10 per week to one organization announced per week for a total of four organizations. As no dollars will ever touch my personal or business bank accounts no tax break or tax refund can be made.

CAN I GET A CHARITABLE DEDUCTION FOR MY DONATION?

No, I'm not a 501(c)(3), so no person or business can deduct its respective contribution for this donation. If you do want to receive a charitable deduction for your contribution, i want to make sure you can do that. In order to facilitate that, we've set up the following process for you:
.
step 1: Email nebraskafloodrelief@gmail.com with your name and a screenshot of your contribution.
step 2: i will decline your Venmo/Paypal request so the funds will be returned to you through either of those apps.
step 3: donate those funds directly to a 501(c)(3) of your choice.

HOW ARE YOU HOLDING YOURSELF ACCOUNTABLE?

It is my one and only goal to be a good steward of the donations received and to make sure that

1. Full transparency is had every step of the way (please check back and often to see donation receipts posted weekly as donations start to be made)

2. The donation plan is shared in full with the Attorney General of Nebraska- which has been done. And all further steps be shared with his office as well as each donation is made weekly.

3. Personal reflection. Although it was not my initial goal to center the fundraising efforts on me, it is my job to take full responsibility for my actions and work in personal reflection of my actions to learn and grow. It’s also important I share with you that I do not recommend anyone to use Venmo as a fundraising platform in the future. Although it offers an instant way to transfer money, it has several limitations including weekly donation caps which are addressed further in the about page of this site.

HOW DO YOU TAKE THE CRITICISM THAT FUNDS ARE NEEDED NOW AND YOUR NEGLIGENCE IN KNOWING VENMO’S PAYOUT LIMITS EFFECTING THE TIMELINESS OF DONATIONS?

It’s projected by flood relief specialists that flood relief in an area takes a full three years to see most flood damages repaired. Organizations will need funding frequently for the next year including this month. Additionally, flood relief specialists say that it often takes weeks for flood efforts to get 501(c)(3) status themselves, bank accounts to be created and action plans for dollars to be put in place.

Along with this information it’s important for you to know we are doing all we can to make sure with Venmo and Paypal’s limitations that dollars are being sent to organizations as fast as possible.

WHO IS WE?

We is a team of, a local accountant, a local lawyer, non-profit coordinator, leaders of each organization, Wyn Wiley and his assistant making sure each step of the process as accountable as possible.
